Arthurian Legends


For most, their interest in the Grail began with one of the numerous Arthurian legends. Wither it was one of the traditional Grail Romances, or a modern adaptation; thoughts of questing for the Grail generally starts here. The trend in recent years has been to put the Arthurian legends on the back burner of Grail theory.  It is much more fun to wrap one’s arms around codes, secret societies, and hidden passages.  Just don’t forget where the humble beginnings of the Grail Quest actually was when doing your research.


Web Sites

The Camelot Project - The University of Rochester site includes: searchable database of images, maps, biographies, key characters, and texts.  One of the nice features of the individual pages is an image gallery of paintings and text links related to each character.  On the main page you can get listings of authors and artists referenced in the site.

 

Clan Arthur - Explaining the hidden Scottish heritage of Arthur is the sole purpose of Clan Arthur.  Some of their arguments might surprise you.


Great Dreams - Lists extensive web sites, books, and articles on Arthur and the Grail.


King Arthur - Britannia Magazine’s page devoted to fact and legend on Arthur.  There are a number of articles related to the King and those that helped frame his story.  The site is dense with historical references, sources, and texts about British history in general as well.  Some of the links require a membership to the Magazine’s History Club. 

King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table - According to their site, "... a Web site dedicated to King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table. Was Arthur a true, historical figure or only a hero of legend? ... Arthur represents a man who was the epitome of good against evil, light against darkness, and that eternal, never-ending struggle between what is right and that which is wrong."


Scotland's King Arthur - Examines the legends from the point of view that Arthur was Scottish.


Tintagel Web – Is a complete visitors guide to Cornwall with a bend to the Arthurian roots of the castle.
