It is almost inevitable that you will have to “get Medieval” in your Grail studies at some point.  There are too many lines of research that cross into the Middle Ages for one not to stumble upon one of them.  The resources below should help out when trying to pin down the history that was happening around the Grail legends. 


Web Sites

Britain Express – Links to a number of articles about people, places, and things in Medieval England and Wales.


Internet Medieval Source Book - Presented by Fordham University, this site has a searchable database of Medieval documents.  There is also a companion site dealing with ancient history.


The Labyrinth Georgetown University has put together a database of medieval electronic sources on the Web.  There is a site map that makes looking for the information they post easier than some other resources of this type.  Of interest on the site is a library of texts in their original languages, and links to subjects ranging from archeology to medieval social commentary.


Online Medieval and Classic Library -The University of Berkley has a collection of some of the most important literary works of Classical and Medieval civilization.


Suite 101 Medieval History Page – Is a collection of articles on the topic written by Suite 101’s contributing authors. 


Time Ref Database  A complete overview of Medieval British and Scottish history from 800 AD to 1499, gives context to events you are looking into.  There are a ton of great pictures, royal family trees, and historical articles liked to the site.  You can also do searches on people and places for pinpoint events. 

 

The United Kingdom’s Historical Manuscripts Commission/National Register of Archives According to their web site this office “…a central point for the collection and dissemination of information about the nature and location of manuscripts relating to British history. It currently consists of some 43,000 unpublished lists and catalogues that describe archival holdings in the United Kingdom and abroad. These can be consulted in the HMC's search room. The lists and catalogues have been indexed by corporate bodies, persons and families and the indexes are available online.”  Basically they can tell you where to go to look for what you’re looking for.
